Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how American Ecotech ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with the Dust Network Monitoring System (the "Service").

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: email address, hashed password, role, and the sites your account is assigned to.
  • Usage and security logs: sign-in timestamps and IP addresses, and an admin activity log, kept for security and troubleshooting.
  • Site telemetry: dust/air-quality, wind, and battery readings from monitoring stations, along with uptime history.
  • Content you provide: tickets/notes, uploaded files, and report assignments associated with a site or account.

2. How we use this information

To operate and secure the Service: authenticating accounts, enforcing site-level access control, detecting and rate-limiting suspicious login activity, sending optional site-down/recovery email alerts, and maintaining an audit trail of administrative actions.

3. Email notifications

If you opt in, we send site-down/recovery alert emails via the SMTP provider configured by your administrator. You can opt out at any time from the Settings page.

4. Cookies

The Service uses a single strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. It cannot be read by page scripts and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. It is deleted when you sign out or after 7 days.

5. Data retention

Site telemetry history is retained for a limited window (currently 90 days) for trend charts and export. Security logs (login attempts, admin activity) are retained for a longer period to support audits and incident investigation, then periodically purged. Account data is retained while the account remains active.

6. Data sharing and third-party service providers

We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Data is not shared outside American Ecotech except: with service providers who process it solely on our behalf and under confidentiality obligations (currently: our cloud hosting provider, which stores the database and uploaded files, and an SMTP provider used to deliver alert/ticket emails); or where required by law, to protect our rights, or to investigate suspected misuse of the Service.

7. Security

Passwords are stored using one-way hashing, never in plain text. Sensitive configuration secrets are encrypted at rest. Access to site data is enforced server-side by account role, and administrative actions are logged. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices

You can update your password and email-alert preference at any time from the Settings page. To request account changes or removal, contact your American Ecotech administrator, or alert@americanecotech.com.

9. California privacy rights

If California's privacy laws apply to you, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to request details about the categories of information we collect and how it's used (see Section 1 and 2 above). We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the preceding 12 months. To make a request, contact us using the details in Section 13; we may need to verify your identity before responding. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

10. Children's privacy

The Service is intended for use by authorized adult personnel of our business customers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

11. Security incident notification

If we become aware of a security incident that compromises your account or personal information in a way that requires notice under applicable law, we will notify affected administrators without unreasonable delay, consistent with the needs of any investigation and any law enforcement request.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

13. Contact

Questions about this policy, or requests regarding your personal information, can be directed to your American Ecotech account administrator, or alert@americanecotech.com.

This document is a good-faith draft prepared for American Ecotech's operational dashboard and is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney. Whether specific state or federal privacy laws (e.g. CCPA/CPRA) apply to your business, and what they require, depends on facts about your company (revenue, data volume) that only counsel can properly assess - review by an attorney is recommended before this is relied upon as your binding privacy policy.
